Cygnet Hospital Maidstone is our state-of-the-art, 63 bed mental health facility for adults situated in the Kent Medical Campus in Maidstone.

We are looking for full time Support Workers with a passion for delivering outstanding care to work on Roseacre Ward, which is our 16 bed personality disorder service for women.

Roseacre Ward provides a high level of therapeutic care and support that is underpinned by knowledge and practice of evidence-based interventions, delivered by a highly experienced multi-disciplinary team. Our individualised and group treatment programmes are highly specialised and have clearly defined goals and outcomes for our service users. The service is supported by Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and staff will be trained in DBT essential skills.

You will work on average 38.5hrs per week covering 11 hour shifts on a rota basis and must be able to cover a mixture of day and night shifts. We can also offer part time contracts of 22hrs or 2 shifts a week.

Your day-to-day

  • Work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team to support implementation of the treatments and therapy as per the service users’ care plans.
  • Compliment and provide support to the qualified nurses.
  • Undertake safe observations of patients sometimes on a 1:1 basis or with other staff.
  • Meet the physical and emotional needs of the service users in a caring and empathic manner.
  • Play an active role in maintaining physical and mental wellbeing by providing and supporting individual or group work.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and enjoyable environment to live and work in.
  • Work within Safeguarding guidelines
  • Undertake training in de-escalation and PMVA techniques to support patients with potentially violent or aggressive behaviours towards themselves or others.
