Cygnet Healthcare is seeking to recruit a full-time, experienced, and motivated Assistant Psychologist to join Hudson Hospital at Cygnet Bury in Greater Manchester. This role will be working 40 hours per week from Monday to Friday.

Cygnet Hospital Bury provides a wide range of inpatient mental health services for men and women including specialist deaf services and CAMHS provision for adolescents.

 

We are looking for an Assistant Psychologist to join our Hudson Psychology team. The Hudson Hospital at Cygnet Bury provides care for adult males across 6 low and medium-secure wards.

 

Job Role:

The role of the Assistant Psychologist will be to support and enhance the psychological care of clients within Hudson hospital by assisting the Qualified Psychologists in the delivery and evaluation of effective services that meet Cygnet’s Healthcare objectives, national strategic and policy guidelines, commissioner requirements, and user and carer needs and expectations.  To thereby help understand, prevent, and ameliorate psychological distress and disorder and improve mental health and well-being of clients. The role involves the administration, scoring, and report writing of psychometric assessments, standardised risk assessments, clinical formulation, and supervised individual and group interventions.  Clinical supervision will be provided as an important part of personal and professional development, and additional training will be supported.

 

Candidate Profile;

You will be a strong team player, confident, motivated, and well organised. You will have a good understanding of the role of therapeutic boundaries, clinical risk and the importance of evidence-based interventions. Patience and commitment are essential, but above all you’ll be someone with a genuine desire to help others. We are looking for someone with a good degree in Psychology, further postgraduate training in relevant area of applied psychology and mental health is desirable. 

 

Previous experience of working within in-patient mental health services and settings is essential alongside some knowledge or experience of secure settings. At least 6 months previous experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist and delivering 1:1 therapeutic work and group therapy sessions is desirable.  All candidates will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and reference checks.
