We are looking for an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse to join our team at Cygnet, who will be home based with flexibility to travel to sites as needed. 

Cygnet was established in 1988. Since then we have developed a wide range of health and social care services for young people and adults with mental health needs, acquired brain injuries, eating disorders, autism and learning disabilities within the UK.

The post holder will work as a key member of the infection prevention and control team, supervised by the Deputy Director of Infection Prevention Control.

To work autonomously in the provision of specialist advice on all matters related to infection prevention within the organisation.

The post holder will work closely in supporting infection prevention and control practices across sites within Cygnet in health and social care.

This will include providing IPC advice and supporting the nursing directorate l in reviewing and implementing changes in practice.

The post holder will support in:

  • The development and implementation of local and national infection prevention and control policies and initiatives
  • Decontamination
  • Surveillance
  • Outbreak management and  investigations
  • IPC related audits
  • Delivery of IPC training

We are looking for someone:

  • With good communication and teaching skills are essential
  • Who has a working knowledge of current UKHSA guidelines in relation to infection control
  • Who has recent infection control nurse experience, including experience in the management and issues around Covid-19 is essential
  • Has experience of supporting people with mental health and learning disabilities
  • Is able to work autonomously as well as part of a team
  • Is able to work flexibly and travel up to 2 days per week where required to undertake site visits
