Maintenance Manager

Cygnet Hospital Stevenage offers a range of secure and PICU and acute mental health services for men and women in a purpose-built therapeutic environment where the focus is on maximising positive outcomes and recovery.
We are looking for a full time Maintenance Manager to be responsible for all routine maintenance, repair and installation work completed on the Cygnet site, ensuring that it is carried out efficiently and within budget and to supervise the Maintenance Operatives.
You will work 37.5 hours per week and be based in a hospital setting.

Your Day-to-Day...
- Respond to maintenance requests and carry out day-to-day maintenance and repairs to a high standard, ensuring that a safe and pleasant environment is maintained for staff, patients and visitors.
- Prepare and complete works in line with the planned preventative maintenance plan and help implement the plan in a timely fashion, including completing redecoration work.
- Work cohesively within the site Maintenance Team, undertaking maintenance work as requested by using an in-house maintenance system.
- Identify work required, undertaking minor renovations of the building, services and equipment. If necessary, to prepare specifications, arranging estimates and the tendering process for outside contractors.
- To be responsible, in conjunction with the Regional Facilities Manager, for negotiating and agreeing contracts for maintenance supplies and contractors. To be responsible for the supervision of external contractors on site.
- Maintain all inventory and equipment, and ensure proper storage.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations and practices on site.
You have...
- Experience of working in the building trade/estates management.
- Experience in supervising and managing others.
- Experience of carrying out inspections
- Experience of managing budgets
- Awareness of H&S, COSHH and RIDDOR regulations.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Good time management skills and ability to prioritise own work and work towards targets/deadlines.
- Good IT skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Awareness of the Mental Health Environment and risks involved.
- Ability to work as an active member of the hospital team.
- Demonstrate awareness of Estates Legislation.
